Welcome to Bracknell Camera Club

Membership
Bracknell Camera Club welcomes members of ALL photographic standards, from complete beginners to professionals. A camera club is an excellent place for novices to learn and for experts to broaden their interests. You will be made to feel at home whatever your level of skill, and whatever equipment you use to capture your images. You will receive advice and encouragement from the wealth of experience that our club members have to offer. Some members specialise in a particular technique or a photographic genre, and will be happy to share their knowledge with you.
Our members do not often bring their cameras to club meetings but if you are looking to find out how your new camera works, we can generally find someone to help. If, however, you want to learn what makes a great picture, we can not only offer advice, instruction and expert opinion to take your images in the right direction but show you outstanding images from members of our own club, from many other clubs and from the high standard of visiting speakers we have in our programme.
Our members are a friendly, enthusiastic bunch and we welcome newcomers of all ages, including students still at school. Note that there are additional requirements for under 18’s to meet statutory legislation - please ask the Membership Secretary for details.
Meetings are held weekly on Mondays, from September through to early June, at The Bracknell Open Learning Centre, Rectory Lane, Bracknell RG12 7GR. Meetings start at 8pm prompt and finish at 10pm, with a break at around 9pm for tea/coffee.
We also have a tutorial programme which runs on Thursday evenings. These tutorials cover a range of topics from composition through to software instruction - on Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom in particular. A complete listing of topics for the coming year can be found on our Workshops page. Please note, however, that these workshops are only available to fully paid-up members.
The club also has a number of special interest groups (SIGs) which in recent years have included a ‘One a Week’ photographic challenge, a Monochrome Print group and a London Street Photography group. These are self-financing groups set up by members who share a common interest.
A summary programme is available for download from this website and, on joining, you will be sent a New Members Handbook file, offering more detail of the club’s many activities.
The club has a policy of allowing non-members to attend most meetings as guests, at a charge of £5 for each visit. Before applying for membership, you are welcome to take advantage of this scheme and come along to our meetings to see if you like us. If you then decide to join the club, up to £15 of any payments paid as a guest in the current year will be deducted from your subscription.
We appreciate that many members are unable to attend all meetings but we hope members attend as many meetings as they can, getting the most from their club. Although it is certainly not a requirement of membership, members are encouraged to enter their images into club competitions to get the benefit of feedback from qualified PAGB judges on aspects of photography and ways of improving their picture taking.
Applying for Membership
To join our club, you submit an application form, available on request from the Membership Secretary; once this is completed and returned, you will be given details on methods of payment. When your payment is confirmed, membership will be approved and you may attend the weekly meetings at no further charge, book places on workshops and enter competitions.
Membership Costs
Annual full membership for 2016/17 is £45 for each individual member; students (in full-time education) are charged £10.
To find out more contact our Membership Secretary who will be glad to answer any queries you may have.
