Welcome to Bracknell Camera Club

About Us
Bracknell Camera Club was formed in 1954 and has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the foremost photographic clubs in the home counties. We are respected for the quality of images our members create as well as being renowned for the friendly environment that exists throughout the club. This continuing popularity has led club numbers to rise year on year and a recent move to larger premises means that, for now, there is no longer a waiting list. We have a diverse range of members of all ages and photographic abilities. Young persons still at school are also welcome - see “Membership Enquiries” page.
Meetings are weekly, on a Monday, from September through to early June. Gathering from 7.30pm for an 8pm start at The Bracknell Open Learning Centre, Rectory Lane, Bracknell RG12 7GR- see “Contact Us” page. There is ample free parking within The Centre’s dedicated car parks.
Bracknell Camera Club welcomes members of all photographic standards, from complete beginners to professionals. A camera club is an excellent place for novices to learn; After all, we all had to start somewhere! We make you feel at home and whatever your level of skill, from simple compact cameras to the latest DSLRs, you will receive advice and encouragement from a wealth of experience that the club members have to offer. Some members specialise in technical or photographic genre, and are happy to give informal advice.
If you are interested in progressing your photography towards the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) or Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) distinctions, then you will find there are several members who hold these distinctions and would be more than willing to give you help and advice. However this does not mean we are, in any way, an “elitist” club. In fact a number of our members are currently judges with the SCPF and will always give help and advice to members.
Weekly meetings revolve around both competitions and guest speakers. Our Programme Secretary ensures that a wide variety of topics and genres are covered each season - see “Programme - Meetings” page. Additionally, several evening are classed as “Members’ Evenings” where members have an opportunity to show us their current projects, images or hints and tips.
The club also competes with other clubs within the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF), a part of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).
We also run an extensive programme of Workshop evenings, usually on a Thursday and they cover a wide range of topics from composition through to software instruction (Photoshop, Lightroom etc.) and various others. These workshops are run by existing members, who have particular skills in their field and who give up their time to run them - see “Workshops” page.
There are also a number of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that have included a ‘One a Week’ photographic challenge, a monochrome print group and London street photography.
If you want to know more about our club, then please do e-mail us - see “Contact Us” page.
